I Would Rather Be Known By Christ

I would rather be known by Him

Than this world,

Known as His, for His glory and praise.

I would rather have the love of Christ in my heart

Than the limited love this world possesses.

I would rather be led by His nailed, pierced hand of grace

Than my own moral, fleshly desires.

I would rather have Jesus

Than anything man can offer.

I would rather be in full submission

Than do anything for man’s empty praise.

I would rather lift up His most holy and divine Name

Than my own in the history books,

For I know I can trust Him because of His most glorious grace and truth.

With Your guidance and faith, what can man do unto me, O Lord?

I would rather have Jesus

Than fame, wealth, or power,

For what can this world offer to equal You?

No one can offer the precious blood shed for sin,

Just to know Christ as Lord and Redeemer.

What can be better, what is greater than this?

Nothing, nothing, nothing—One God,

One Lord, One Saviour everlasting.
